Before any type of soil remediation takes place, RespirTek's Microbial Communication ServiceŽ can determine the effectiveness of the intervention without expensive field trial and error application. Our Microcosm Studies, also referred to as Biofeasibility Studies, can determine contaminant degradation rates for as many different scenarios that you would like to try, all within our respirometric laboratory. Send us a soil or water sample from the site and we will be able to tell you within a few days of lab work if naturally occurring microbes will work for you.

Respirtek has developed protocol for a basic bench scale biofeasibility study, using respirometric technology combined with traditional analytical testing, that provides a very economical approach to bioremediation determination. In a fully accredited NELAC lab, we can provide the following from your soil or water sample: Run BTEX, VOC, COD, TOC, pH and nutrients to establish baseline, Study the impact of air to indigenous microbes followed by COD and TOC analytical for baseline comparability, Study the impact of nutrient addition followed by COD and TOC analytical for baseline comparability, Study the impact of specialty microbe seed addition followed by BTEX, VOC, COD and TOC analytical for baseline comparability, Report indicating procedures and conclusions.
